This exhibition will be held in the University of Houston-Clear Lake's Artist Project Space March 9 - April 9, 2020 and will act as a retrospective of Judy Chicago's "Dinner Party", which was hosted by UHCL 40 years prior, and as a celebration of women's stories and achievements.
Chicago's original work was an epic exhibition that was a reflection of the feminist movement of the 60s and 70s. Its grand scale covered hundreds of years of notable women, some of whom, in 2019, are still not fully recognized and respected for their contributions to humanity. Though Chicago's "The Dinner Party" features 39 names and a 100 more on The Heritage Floor, there are countless women who have great stories that will never be told.
This retrospective seeks to expand our knowledge of more women's voices especially the women of color and those in the LGBT+ community who were not given the same weight in the original work. This retrospective is a continuation of the dialogue started by Chicago's original work.
Any woman or woman-identifying individual who is also a UHCL student, faculty, staff or alumna is invited to submit work for this exhibition below.

I want to participate, but I am not a woman and/or can't make art?
There is a collaborative element that will be announced soon so please stay tuned to this website as well as any announcements on campus about this exhibition.
In the meantime, think about a woman in myth, religion, history or the present day who you feel more people should know about. What is unique about her story, her voice and or her contributions to her community or field?
This will come in handy when the next part is announced...
